Balkan Dance Basics classes
FREE class 7:00-7:30 PM on 9/12, 9/19, 9/26 and 10/3
Learn one or two basic Balkan dances in each class. The steps you learn in each of these non-partner line or circle dances will enable you to learn other Balkan dances more rapidly.
Stay after these classes for the dance and learn more Balkan dances!
When paid classes are held:
The class fees are $15 each by cash, card, or check. Fee includes dancing after class. Save by paying at the first class for the entire series.
Each lesson is an hour, from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m., after which there’s a social dance to requests for the rest of the evening until about 10:30 p.m. Come join us and see what Jana has up her sleeve in the way of fun dances, you can expect to learn dances that will be done at SBD for years to come.
Jana’s “Dances You Wish You Knew” series, occasional Friday evenings
Jana plans to hold occasional sessions of “Dances You Wish You Knew” teaching. This is a FREE, half-hour lesson from 7:30 to 8:00pm, geared to beginning and intermediate dancers. Be sure to arrive before 7:30pm – the session STARTS ON TIME, because it has to end at 8:00. Dates are TBD, so keep checking the website!
Our Instructor Jana Rickel 
Jana has been studying and teaching Balkan dance for many years. Her easygoing and friendly style makes learning even the most challenging dances fun.
Classes are held in 4 to 6 week series and can be geared for beginner and/or intermediate dancers. People can participate in single classes, but of course, you will get the most from attending a whole series, as many dances take more than one lesson to learn solidly. Classes are sometimes planned in conjunction with other special events or live music parties so you are prepared to enjoy yourself to the fullest at all our events.
Between Jana’s classes, we often have guest instructors from our group or special workshops led by internationally known teachers. Stay tuned for Upcoming Events.
